Immediately after the second motorist reported the incident around 2:20 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, state police put out an alert to all police stations across the area including the Darien Police, said Capt. Jeremiah Marron Jr.

In addition to reporting the alleged gun incident, the motorists also said the vehicle, had what appeared to be fresh damage to its exterior, and the vehicle had exited I-95 at Exit 11 in Darien, Marron said.

A short time later while searching for the suspect vehicle, Darien Police Officer Kelly Thurston observed a vehicle matching the given description re-entering I-95 northbound at Exit 11 in Darien, Marron said.

Once on the highway in the area of Exit #13, Thurston activated her emergency lights and siren in an attempt to pull the vehicle over, he added.

The vehicle pulled to the right shoulder of I-95 but then increased its speed in an attempt to elude the officer.

As the vehicle continued northbound on I-95, the Connecticut State Police indicated that they had located the vehicle on surveillance cameras and relayed it had exited I-95 at Exit 17 and the occupants were attempting to run from the vehicle, Marron said.

Darien officers along with Darien detectives and Connecticut State Troopers arrived on the scene and were able to take all passengers and the driver into custody, he added.

"During the investigation, the possession of a firearm by any involved party was not corroborated," Marron said.

The driver, Danielle Green, 41, of Waterbury, was arrested for several charges, as well as one of the passengers,  Jonathan Neves, 33, also of Waterbury, police said.

Three of the passengers were not arrested and were released from the scene.

Green was charged with:

  • Engaging police in pursuit
  • Driving while intoxicated
  • Operating under suspension

Neves was charged with possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Darien police were assisted by the Connecticut State Police, the Westport Police Department, the Norwalk Police Department, and the Department of Motor Vehicles Police Department, Marron said.
